The summer is here- well, technically anyway! Staycations were a big thing this year as the credit crunch ensured people tried to save money by staying in the UK for their holidays.
Then the Met Office announced they’d gotten their ‘barbeque summer’ prediction wrong, ensuring thousands of people are frantically searching for those last minute deals!
So where are people travelling this summer?
Destinations Abroad
1) Spain- a national favourite. With Jet2 promising flights to Espania for just £9.99, is it any wonder people are taking up their offer?
2) Cyprus- with beautiful sunshine and stunning beaches, is it any wonder people are swapping Blackpool for Kapparis?
3)Turkey- the currency of Turkey is the Turkish Lira, meaning that sunseekers don’t get caught out by the high Euro exchange rates
4) Greece- Stunning views, lush landscapes and plenty of history- need I say more?
5) Egypt- The British are choosing to visit the pyramids and learning about one of the oldest known civilisations in the world- there’s plenty to do and see!
6) America- visit our cousins abroad! With something for everyone, it’s no wonder people are hopping over to say hello.
7) Italy- fine food, beautiful cities and fabulous culture. Italy is a must for many.
8) Caribbean- the more adventurous of us are choosing to travel further afield and enjoy a more relaxed holiday…
9) Malta- the heart of the mediterranean, British tourists are choosing to island hop, relax and explore Malta
10) Dubai- for more exotic tastes, Dubai offers stunning hotels and scenery to enjoy
Travel destintations in the UK are still seeing higher profits, with Butlins and Haven having higher booking levels. It is actually predicted to be next year when the UK holiday resorts start feeling the pinch.

1) Cornwall- one in three brits will be visiting Cornwall this year, as Cornwall is one of the most iconic destinations. Dramatic landscapes and vibrant culture ensures Cornwall is a fammily favourite.
2) Lake District- go eup norf and enjoy rugged landscapes and beautiful walks, together with homely cottages and a welcome break
3) Yorkshire Dales- God own county comes third in the list, with tourists discovering lush landscapes and outdoor activities a must
4) Scottish Highlands & Islands- go even further north to the stunning Scottish Highlands! Tourists can enjoy an outdoor lifestyle and active holiday
5) Edinburgh- the Scottish capital can boast the Fringe Festival, one of Europe’s largest theatre events, as well as beautiful scenery and city life
6) London- the UK capital, whether you want to see a West End show or shop until you drop, London has many attractions for everyone
7) Isle of Wight- historic sites to natural delights, music festivals and major national events, Isle of Wight is a unique holiday destination
8) Devon- Visit a spa or get active and try one of the water-sports. Many attractions have special offers and free events so check them out
9) Norfolk Broads- enjoy a sailing holiday for a change in scenery and have a holiday adventure!
