Retail News- Ostrich Eggs anyone??

Ostrich Eggs are to appear in Waitrose in the run up to Easter, according to some national newspapers.

The eggs are the equivalent to 24 Chicken eggs and can feed 15 people a good sized omlette. The egg takes an hour and a half to cook properly.

If you fancy breaking into your wallet, an Ostrich egg will set you back £18.99.

Demand in foods such as Pheasant, Quail, Duck and Goose eggs has increased by 101%. British cooks are now more adventurous in the kitchen than the French, as our tastes and cooking habits change.

For a long time British cuisine has been seen as boring and stodgy. British people are now more interested in cooking not only interesting foods but also healthy foods to ensure that they get better nutrition.

All I can say on the matter is as long as the egg layers are kept in humane conditions and are treated fairly, why not treat yourself to an Ostrich egg?!

Retail News- retailers urged to hire apprentices

The recession affected high street stores and businesses alike, but people most badly hit were younger generations.

In order to help out the growing number of unemployed, the government has vowed to help, launching the National Apprentice Week.

Most employers are impressed by enthusiasm and drive of apprentices, whilst apprentices also learn the business and skills necessary in order to fit easily into the workplace.

The good news in all of this is that companies are expecting to initiate recruitment drives once more and therefore the government is keen for some of these to be apprentices.

Retailers who are planning on recruiting apprentices include Morrions, who plan to create 20,000 apprenticships, whilst Crossrails will be creating 400.

According to apprenticships minister Kevin Brennan: “Last year 143,000 people completed an apprenticeship, helping to give them the skills and experience they need to get on at work.”

So, hang in there if your currently looking for work or are struggling, an apprentiship could be for you!

Women risk feet for fashion

It’s true ladies! Those oh so cute shoes which look perfect but are actually painful are bad for you- but we all knew this anyway

Research by The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, nearly four in ten women buy shoes knowing they don’t fit. Furthermore, 37% would wear uncomfortable shoes because they are fashionable.

What are the worst culprits? Not killer heels but slip-on shoes, as they cause the foot to slide forward and cramp the toes. Other culprits include court shoes, as they are low-fronted, giving no support to the foot, and tend to be too narrow in the toe

It is no surprise therefore that most people in the UK suffer from a foot problem at some point in their lives.

Personally I have plenty of shoes which rub and hurt my feet. I never leave the house without plasters in my handbag. Whilst my favourite shoes are flip flops (mainly as they are just deliciously comfortable) with the UK weather this probably isn’t the best idea.

Pretty shoes make me feel pretty, I’m taller and have a better posture and just feel better for wearing them. I’m always equipped with Party Feet and insoles just in case and usually my shoes are off by the end of the night!

I think shoes should be in half sizes as I’m pretty sure I’m a 6 1/2 so sizes don’t fit but 7 are too big (usually) However, I am now more aware of the problems which ill fitting shoes cause and so I’ll probably have a ‘cull’ of my shoes to find which I can keep and which to chuck!

Do you have badly fitting shoes? Would you give them up for better fitting ones? Let us know your thoughts!
