Are Silver Surfers the new demographic to market to?

Posted by Deborah Read on in Finance

They are everywhere. No, literally, they have free bus passes and they're not afraid to use them! In an ageing population, the older generation have been targeted for years in print media, with firms such as Saga targeting the elderly and supplying them with must have products. The older generations are also more affluent, seeing their house prices rise significantly and therefore having more dispensible income. It's not surprising then that online marketers are now beginning to target the older generations. Research by UKOM has found that more and more of the older generations are getting online. Not only this, but they are beginning to take over the online world, signing up to Facebook and Twitter in order to tell the world about their accomplishments. A third of the online population are now Silver Surfers, who are likely to buy their groceries online and other essentials. Whilst the internet has been typically reserved for the younger generations, more and more silver surfers are beginning to get online. Therefore, retailers are beginning to target this new, emerging market. Subscribe to VoucherSeeker Voucher Codes Blog by Email
