Going, going, GONE. The hat which nearly upstaged Kate Middleton

So Princess Beatrice has finally sold THAT hat, for a whopping £18,000. The now infamous Phillip Treacy hat was worn by the Princess to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. It caused a controversy, with over 20 Facebook pages dedicated to it whilst the fashion world went crazy. But what was it that made the hat such a big talking point? The hat detracted from Princess Beatrice's face, the colour of the outfit did not seem to tone with her natural colourings and her eye make up was too heavy for the colour of the hat. Unfortunately, the Royal Wedding was not just a big occasion for the world's media, but also a major fashion event. Since Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement, similar dresses and engagement rings have all flown off the shelves. Some hair salons were even offering Kate Middleton hairstyles. Everyone wanted to be like her. There's no surprise then that guests at the wedding would have the extra pressure of needing to look good. The world's media decended upon London to catch a glimpse of the bridal dress which had been a closely guarded secret, and guests to the wedding would be judged. The Middletons were triumphant in their choice of clothing. Middleton fever can still be seen in magazines for all ages- from Carole Middletons choice being scruitinised to articles offering tips and advice to get a 'Pippa Middleton bottom.' The right fashion choices were made, and these choices are bound to be emulated by the public. As for Princess Beatrice, the eBay sale of the hat is the best thing Princess she could do. The hat is infamous and Princess Beatrice will surely not be allowed to forget it. However, it has raised an amicable sum of money for charity, and someone else will surely get joy from owning this once in a lifetime piece. Love fashion? Get fashion discounts from VoucherSeeker!
