Shop workers most affected by recession

Posted by Deborah Read on in Finance

The recession has ensured that more retail staff are now claiming benefits than any other profession, according to research by The Trade Union Congress. This is due to big retailers such as Woolworths going into administration, as well as consumers cutting back on spending. The situation is not helped by the increased demand for retail jobs. Earlier this year Primark reported that 8,000 people applied for jobs at their new store opening at Gloucester. The retail jobs market is also not helped as professionals flood the market. People who used to work in higher end jobs are now seeking to work in retail and lower end jobs in order to make ends meet. The retail industry full stop is highly affected by the recession and I believe this is set to continue until there is an end to the recession. Are you struggling to find a job?
