Currys was founded in 1884 by Henry Curry, when he started to build bicycles full time in a shed at the back of his garden.

1998 Currys was the first electrical retailer to stock Plasma Flat TVs in a Widescreen format.

2006 Dixons announced they were removing their brand from the high street and would only use the Curry brand. Dixons rebranded as Currys.digital, an extension of Currys. Dixons/ Currys.digital now markets itself as a specialist division of Currys, aimed at the technology focused consumer.

2007 Currys awarded ‘Energy saving Recommended' status for two own brand set top boxes, a first in the UK.

2008 - it was announced that the leases on 77 of the chains 177 Currys High Street stores to expire, in order to revive business.
