Jessops History

Frank Jessop opened the first Jessops photography store in Leicester in 1935
In the 1960s Alan Jessop, Frank Jessop's son joined the business.
Jessops moved to a new 20,000 sq ft premises on Hinckley Road in the 1970s. It was quoted in the Guiness Book of Records as the world's largest photography store.
By the end of the 1980s Jessops had over 50 stores.
In 1993- Jessops opened the first digital imaging centre, Jessops bought Crewe Cameras, City Camera Exchange
Jessops.com was launched in 1999
By 2001 Jessops opened its 200th store.
In 2002 Jessops acquired by ABN Amro Capital for £116 million
